Are you looking for a vacation activity that everyone in your family can enjoy? At Legacy Mountain, anyone three years and older can fly through the sky on our ziplines in Pigeon Forge. Here are a few tips for having a zipline adventure with your kids:
1. Know your child’s weight.
In order to ride our ziplines alone, a child must be between 100 and 275 pounds. This is the minimum weight necessary to gain the momentum for a successful trip across a zipline cable.
Don’t worry If your kids are under 100 pounds! They will still be able to ride tandem with one of our guides. If you get the chance, have your kids step on a scale before visiting Legacy Mountain so you’ll know in advance if they will be ziplining alone or with a member of our staff.
2. Have your kids dress for success.
Make sure that your kids dress casually and practically for their zipline adventure! That means no dresses and no open toe shoes. Also, if your child has long hair, put it in a ponytail so it doesn’t go flying in her face during the ride. These fashion tips apply to adults too!
3. Talk with your kids about zipline safety.
Some children (and parents!) feel a bit nervous before going ziplining for the first time. The best way to put your kid’s mind at ease is by telling them how safe our ziplines are. Every tour is run by two friendly and experienced guides, and all of of our equipment is certified by the Association for Challenge Course Technology.
When you get to Legacy Mountain, be sure to point out all of the happy and excited people who just enjoyed a zipline ride. If you like, our guides would be more than happy to give encouragement to your kids.
Legacy Mountain is currently closed for the winter, but we will start offering tours again on March 1st. Now is the perfect time to start planning your next vacation in the Smokies.
