People who attend the annual car show, Shades of the Past in Pigeon Forge, TN, have plenty of things to see at the show and elsewhere in Pigeon Forge. This Hot Rod Roundup will be held at Dollywood’s Splash Country on Sept. 7-8, 2012.
Thousands of car enthusiasts come to this event to see classic cars that were manufactured before 1973. They can purchase used auto parts and show souvenirs from vendors at the show’s swap meet. Families can splash around in the children’s pool at Dollywood’s Little Creek Falls or relax on the Lazy River.
Show participants compete for awards such as Best Street Cruiser, Best Street Rod and Best Street Machine. The awards are given on Friday, and the winning cars are displayed in the Winners Showcase area on Saturday. The first prize is a 1932 HiBoy Roadster, and the second prize is $10,000. The official awards presentation is the final event of this car show in Pigeon Forge, TN.
There are 15 acres of free parking within walking distance of the show’s entrance. Show attendees can also park in a city lot and take a city trolley to the show’s entrance.
Adventurous show attendees may want to go zip lining in the Smoky Mountains. One of the zip lines in Pigeon Forge will take people on a canopy tour through a forest.
Hiking through the Smoky Mountains, playing miniature golf and seeing a dinner show are some of the other things to do in the Pigeon Forge area. Shoppers will enjoy browsing through outlet stores at Pigeon River Crossings. Those who want to sample Southern cuisine can visit Bennett’s Pit Bar-B-Que or Huck Finn’s.
